    With smaller amps getting a thick tone seems to be a harder process without the bottom end getting garbled, and lost at louder volumes. I’ve found the best compensation to be using more mids (3 o’clock) and keeping the low end at around twelve o’clock. Many guitars and strings for guitars are already bright in tone so I’ve found that 9 o’clock suffices nicely to get a warm tone. With the mids boosted, depending on the type of amp you are using (Line 6, Vox, etc.) gain should not be overdone or you will lose the tone you were searching for.     Master volume for lead should be cranked with the volume for rhythm adjusted lower to your taste…
