Gallien Krueger/Ampeg Review

A Gallien Krueger/Ampeg combo is extremely great sounding for both electric and upright bass. Let's start with the electric guitar aspect. Have you ever wanted that crisp sound for slapping or playing funky? This combo is perfect for that, with a tweeter adjuster and an insane EQ, you can sound any way you want. If you are looking for, say, that bassy/warm sound for playing jazz or slow music, turn the sub and the bass up and you've got it.
Personally, I play upright bass a lot. I'm mostly a jazz/jam type musician. This setup sounds absolutely amazing for upright, even with the worst upright through a fishman pickup. My tone isn't too twangy, and not too bassy either. GK's have one of the greatest sound for upright or electric, and I highly recommend purchasing one.
If you are planning on playing only upright, you may want a smaller/less wattage speaker. This is so that it isn't a hassle moving the speaker around. If you play electric, this amp is great while playing with a drummer because you can really crank up the sound. There is no explanation of the EQ on the GK... It is incredible. You can get almost any sound you want out of it.
After looking at the great aspects of this setup, I'm sure you can see why I will probably never replace it. This setup deserves a 5/5, but nothing in life is perfect.

| I just purchased a gallien Krueger/Ampeg combo - the eq is f*cking unreal! I was playing through some ratty crate amp before this, so may my comparison is pretty limited, but the ampeg just gave me total control - no limits on my sound at all |
